Marching Band occurs as part of the instrumental music courses and includes all instrumental music students in 9-12th Grade as well as any color guard members not in instrumental music.

Rehearsals – all rehearsals occur at Ankeny High School

• Rehearsals occur before school (7:00 – 8:00 am) on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and on Tuesday evenings (7:00 – 9:00 pm).
• Tuesday evening rehearsals are extended for percussion and color guard students (6:00 – 9:00 pm).

During the marching season, morning rehearsals will continue into the school day.

• 10-12th grade instrumental music students will rehearse 1st Period.
• 9th grade instrumental music students rehearse during 3rd period.

Performances

Performances include all home football games, as well as a few competitions during September and October. The season culminates in our performance at the Mid-Iowa Band Championships, our home competition. Dates and times for performances can be found on our Calendar page.

Color Guard

The Ankeny High School Color Guard is open to any student in grades 9-12.  Participation in band is not necessary to be a member of the guard.

Auditions for the guard will take place in the spring. Audition information will be posted in Infinite Campus at both AHS and SV, as well as posters throughout both buildings.

The color guard is part of the band in the summer and fall. Following marching band season, the guard participates in a winter contest season.
