The information provided below will give you an idea of what the tryout process looks like. Information regarding 2021-22 tryouts will be posted here when available.

Monday April 8, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the AHS Auxiliary Gym.
Wednesday April 10 , 2019 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the AHS Auxiliary Gym.

Mandatory Parent Meeting:
For all parents of the 2019-2020 dance team
Monday, April 15th from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the AHS Commons.
Mandatory Team Meeting:
For all 2019-2020 dance team members. This will include information about the teams and a fitting.
Wednesday, April 17th from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. in the AHS Commons.
If a dancer is unavailable on the tryout date please discuss with the coaches. The dancer’s video tryout will not be accepted unless he/she has discussed with the coach. See the video tryout requirements here.

Please see below for all information regarding the day of tryouts:
REQUIRED FORMS: All forms are due at the start of clinics on Monday April 8th
3:00 PM: Auxiliary gym open, Open practice available (skills & routines, group practice, etc.)
4:00 PM: Last call for check-in, Individual photos taken with tryout number
4:15 PM: Final tryouts begin
Call Backs: Dancers are asked to stay until the end of the last group in order to participate in call backs. This will allow for judges to see different dancers together when determining teams.
Groups & Numbers: Numbers and groups will be randomly assigned. Each group will have 2-4 dancers
Technical Skills: Each dancer will individually be asked to show the following technical skills. Each dancer is expected to show the level of skill that best represents their abilities. (Pirouette, Turns in second, Jump combo, Flexibility skill)
Bonus Skills: Each dancer can individually show the following skills for bonus points. These skills will not be taught at the clinic. (Aerial, Kip up: https://youtu.be/GbNhDnQCokc)
Jazz Routine: Each group will perform the 0:45-1:00 jazz routine taught in clinics. Judging will be based on overall execution, performance value, timing, memory, and strength of movement.
Pom Routine: Each group will perform the 0:45-1:00 pom routine taught in clinics. Judging will be based on overall execution, performance value, timing, memory, and sharpness of motions.
Overall: The dancer will be judged from the moment they enter the gym to the moment they leave. Judges will be scoring the following based upon overall impression: Overall attitude/poise, overall appearance (Hair in bun, performance make up, black bottoms, black tank without logo, etc.).
TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT: The team will be announced no later than noon on Saturday, April 13th. Emails will be sent out to individuals first followed by Facebook & Instagram posts.
PARENT MEETING (MANDATORY): All parents of the 2019-2020 team are required to attend the parent meeting on Monday, April 15th from 6:30-7:30 PM. Dancers are encouraged to attend so they can also be informed of their season.
$100 check for camp deposit due at the parent meeting for each dancer attending camp (Made out to the AHS Dance Team, memo: camp deposit)
DANCER MEETING (MANDATORY): All dancers of the 2019-2020 team are required to attend the team meeting on Wednesday, April 17th from 4:00-5:30 PM. This will include meeting teammates, getting measured for uniforms, and learning about team expectations.
